The starting line for both the Marathon and Half Marathon is located at Vancouver’s famous Queen Elizabeth Park, the highest point in the city that was transformed from an industrial rock quarry into a 52-hectare city park and hillside garden complex. The elevated location also boasts some of the clearest, most signature views of the city – and is an inspirational place to begin our courses.

After traveling from Queen Elizabeth Park and down the wide historic boulevard of Cambie Street, Marathon runners will enter the next section of our course – the vibrant neighbourhoods along West 49th. The tree-lined streets of Oakridge, Shaughnessy and Kerrisdale are three of Vancouver’s most historic, established communities, and create a gateway to one of the city’s most treasured places, the forested hideaway of Pacific Spirit Park.
