Run4Hope: CMHA Pandemonium Program

Vancouver, BC – November 17, 2014

Canadian Mental Health Association: Open your eyes to Pandemonium

Children and youth living with anxiety disorders experience social isolation and stigmatization. Normal daily activities such as making friends and engaging in recreational or school activities can be a struggle. In severe cases, anxiety can be so overwhelming children can’t leave the house and as a result, will miss school. During the developmental stages of adolescence, it is important for children to be active, to practice social skills and engagement as these crucial skills prepare them for successes in adulthood.

Offered to the family with no cost, Pandemonium is a recreation-based program that provides a fun, social and safe environment for youth living with a mental health problem or who experience anxiety. The programs supports youth in establishing normal roles with their peers and building strong friendships. This early intervention program builds resiliency and ultimately leads to individuals developing full and productive lives in the community.

Just as important, it helps alleviate stress in the family unit, keeping everyone well.

As a Canadian Mental Health Association (CMHA) Charity Runner, participants commit to raising a minimum of $400 dollars in support of the programs and services for people living with mental health issues. CMHA directly supports our runners to help make fundraising a success. Specifically, CMHA will provide:

  • a customized fundraising web page
  • promotion through CMHA’s website, Facebook and Twitter
  • regular e-mails from CMHA with fundraising tips and encouragement
  • a limited edition CMHA running vest for the first 50 runners to complete their fundraising commitments

Don’t miss the opportunity to save lives and create a bright future for child, youth, adult and families living with mental illness.  Please join us, Running for Mental Health for All!
