The “fun” factor is sometimes the hardest thing to train. It requires you to take all that info regarding heart-rate, split-times, timing, speed, calories, etc. and forget about it for a workout or two.
Now some of you may say, “that’s crazy!” but I urge you to look into your past workouts and remember a time when you simply smiled and felt that feeling when you first started running (or training).
As a cyclist - there were many times that I would be in overdrive, on my way to burnout, when I would realize what I needed was to put aside my heart-rate monitors, speed sensors and power measuring devices and get back to the basics. Those rides were always the best! You open your senses up to more of your surroundings and enjoy the sport for what it offers you - gadget free!
Don’t get me wrong - training tools are an important part of effective training and monitoring. Using them is great, just be mindful of their presence.
