Spectator Highlights
You don’t have to be a runner to join in on the fun on Sunday May 3rd during the BMO Vancouver Marathon.

The marathon has a new start and finish area at Concord Pacific Place, east of GM Place, and winds throughout some of Vancouver's most scenic neighbourhoods, providing great vantage points to cheer on all the walkers and runners.

Excellent viewpoints include Brockton Point in Stanley Park, English Bay, Beach Avenue, Burrard Street Bridge, Kits Point, 4th & Alma and Cornwall Avenue.

“Something for Everyone!” That sums up the entertainment line up for this year's event. While runners travel the marathon route, music will take them on a journey around the world ~ 14 acts representing Vancouver's cultural and ethnic diversity, presented by URP Event Production and Creative Services.

Famous Players are an internationally acclaimed dance party band that will be playing on the main stage between the award sets. Renowned for their high energy and musical prowess, Famous Players are one of North America's most requested acts.

The excitement doesn't stop at the finish line either.  Spectators will want to spend some time in the Kids Zone at the Event Village at Concord Pacific Place, a free play area with inflatables and live entertainers, including the Ronald McDonald® Sports Zone, face painters, kid's music, and more!

Spectators may need to use alternate access routes or park and walk into their destination. All areas of the city remain open for business as usual via major traffic arteries during the marathon. The downtown core is open and accessible at all times via Hastings Street. Businesses located on closed roads will open as usual and can be accessed by foot.

Police, city staff and marathon organizers are working to ensure a safe route. The first marathon event starts at 6:00 am and most runners will have finished the course by 12:00 noon.  All events will be completed by 2:00 pm.

Residents and commuters should expect delays and be prepared to use alternate routes, many of which are available. Please note that times for road closures are approximate. Roads will be re-opened on a rolling schedule as the marathon progresses through the city.
